St Eadburgha's is the home of a faithful congregation which serves
the village of Ebrington and the other hamlets and farms of the parish and
beyond. We share worship each Sunday and are always happy to welcome guests and
visitors. The church is at the centre of the village both through its location
and through its involvement and organisation of social and community events.
St Eadburgha’s building dates back many centuries and there are
reasons to suppose that this has been a place of worship for over 1000 years.
The church and village are located in the North Cotswolds on the
Gloucestershire, Warwickshire border and nestle into the hillside.
One of the greatest strengths of the Church of England, of which
we are part, is the parish system that means all parts of our nation are served
by a parish church. This is a commission that St Eadburgha’s fulfills with
aplomb – it is the glue that binds the community together. However, the parish
system is also a potential weakness as churches can become self-obsessed and
inwardly focused. This is not true of the church in Ebrington as the network of
friendship links it has built bears testament.
The Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles offer abundant evidence
that churches in the first century did not exist in isolation but that they
related to one another. We are part of that tradition of offering mutual
encouragement and support. In our regular worship we pray for the world-wide
church, focusing inevitably on the churches and countries where we have links.
