Anything up to £150,000 could be readily spent in the next 2 years to improve and maintain our beautiful historic church
In order to properly look after our Grade 1 Listed Church we continue to need to invest in all aspects of maintenance and improvement.
We have re-roofed the south aisle and refurbished the Admonitions panels; both with some generous support from benefactors.
New padded seat cushions have been installed on every pew, generously made possible as a result of the retiring collection at Sally Sabin's funeral.
Under-pew heating has been extended to cover the whole of the main body of the church.
Repointing of all exposed joints in the external stonework has been completed to protect the inner fabric from the elements.
A new 3-phase electrical supply has been installed, fully compliant with current standards
In memory of Mrs Glenys Stanley, we have also refurbished the Vestry to include improved kitchen facilities.
Completed recently, a new vehicle turning area, for the use of people with limited mobility enabling near level access to church.
We also completed work to restore our ancient oak Bell-Frame.
Substantial tree works have been completed in the churchyard.
Thanks to a very generous Donation, in 2022, we are also able to replace all the church carpetting.
Forthcoming Projects, funding permitting, will include:-
· Toilet facilities within the curtilage of the churchyard
. Proper repairs to the churchyard path, subject to GCC funding, as the Highways Authority
Future ideas include:-
· the refurbishment of Chancellor Sir John Fortescue’s Tomb
· automating the winding mechanism of our turret clock
· sympathetically separating the south transept from the nave.
Inevitably, to achieve these outcomes, considerable fundraising effort, generous donations, or Legacies, are always welcomed.
